Jump into the exciting world of quilting with the choice of two offerings that are guaranteed to improve your skills. We will cover the basics of measuring and cutting fabric the quilters’ way and talk about quilters’ tools and essentials. You will learn about hue, value and tone. This class is perfect for the intermediate beginner who already has basic experience and competency with a sewing machine. Some experience with hand sewing is ideal, but not necessary.
The first project is the beautiful Ombre Table Runner, contructed with Jennifer Sampou’s Sky fabric collection. This beautiful piece is sure to dress up your table setting for years to come!
Choose from three potential palettes:
Dawn, Ocean or Fog (see images attached).
The second potential project you can choose is the Quilted Pillow. Embark on your quilting journey by mastering the Half Square Triangle, one of the essential quilt blocks. Students will learn precision cutting and piecing and how to create slightly oversized blocks and trim down to perfection.
Instructor will provide a variety of pillow kits to select from, so that you may choose your own palette to create a pillow that compliments your home and lifestyle. Or create a masterpiece for a special friend.
Sewing machines and all equipment will be provided, and kits will be available for an additional fee of $35 for each project.
This is an 11-hour workshop, two sessions of approximately 5.5 hours each, with a 30 minute lunch break. There may be some sewing homework in between depending on your in-studio progress. Light snacks will be provided, and you are welcome to bring your lunch or purchase it nearby.
