Community and creativity

Sustainability in Fashion – Learn and Create workshop was an incredible experience! The environment was inspiring, with a group of talented, forward-thinking women who made it even better. Lissa and Jenny are a fantastic team. We learned basic sewing and made new friendships. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn sewing in a fresh, creative atmosphere!

Highly Recommend

I had a fantastic time at Moving Thread’s sustainability workshop last weekend! We learned so much about creating art with fabric scraps, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Everyone was lovely, and it was so much fun turning what would be waste into something beautiful. Highly recommend this workshop to anyone interested in creativity and sustainability!

Sweet treat for the soul

My friend and I took the Sustainability in Fashion workshop and had the most amazing time. The instruction Lissa and Jenny provided was incredibly informative and inspiring, and the hands-on work was immensely therapeutic! It was so nice to start day in their lovely space, joining their community of beautiful people and making art together!
I was so glad that when they said no experience was required, they meant it! Before this one-day workshop, my friend and I had never used a sewing machine before, and I had sewn maybe a total of 20 buttons onto garments throughout the course my entire life.
Lissa provided a sewing machine demo for us first-timers and then continued to walk around us while we worked at the machines and provided assistance if we ran into trouble or out of thread, making the experience so pleasurable and instilling confidence in us all to continue creating freely. Was a great mix up of standing to cut and pair fabrics together at the tables as well as sitting at the sewing machine. Loved that while you could certainly stay in place if you needed or wanted to, there was the ability to move around the space and engage with people in different parts of the room while you worked.
I highly recommend anyone looking for a creative outlet, a precious community, and a safe place to make art.
Can’t wait to come back soon!

Meaningful, Functional & Beautiful

I took the Sustainability in Fashion workshop and can’t say enough about the wonderful experience. Lissa & Jenny are so knowledgeable and passionate and their approach warm and supportive. I learned SO much about sustainability practices and was able to get into a flow state during the creative art making with remnant fabrics segment. I highly recommend this studio whether you want to learn to sew or just want to be creative with textiles.
