WHAT IS STITCHED?

Stitched Fashion Camp is a unique, hands-on experience immersing young students into the world of fashion, where anything is possible! At STITCHED, students design and create their own imaginative clothing and accessories. The projects are great for all genders and various skill levels. Campers will learn to draw fashion illustrations, create their own designs, sew by hand and machine, hand embellished pieces, and more! STITCHED provides the projects, equipment, and supplies.

Along this journey, campers will touch on the many layers of designing their own collection, including styling, merchandising and photography. We will close the camp with a fashion show where families are invited to witness these one-of-a kind wearable pieces of art.

  • No experience is necessary. We will give you all the tools to bring your ideas to life. If you happen to have experience, great! Rob and the staff will work with everyone based upon their skill level and at a pace that is comfortable for them.
  • Regarding sizes, the clothing is designed for the student. You will learn to take measurements and the designs you make will be yours to wear.
  • Everything you need for the session is included. There are no additional costs.
  • Friends are made at STITCHED. We are all about inclusivity and community, so we do everything together including eating our lunches as a group.
  • Dress attire: Every day will be full of activities and sometimes we will get messy. We suggest wearing casual clothes that you are comfortable in.
  • Please bring your own ‘brown bag’ lunch and a drink to have throughout the day. We will take a lunch break 30 minutes each day and a snack break in between.

Participants will create (but are not limited to):

  • Inspiration boards
  • Color and Fabric stories
  • A design development journal
  • A 4 look illustrated collection
  • 2 collection pieces (top and skirt/shorts)

If you have an interest in fashion, love drawing, and want to improve on your sewing skills, this is the program for you!

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Rob Younkers is a fashion designer, educator, media personality, and former Professor at Parsons School of Design.

He has designed and consulted for Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Patricia Field, Mattel, Vogue Magazine, Elie Tahari, Elle Magazine, and Threadymade. In 2007 he began designing a custom women’s tailored collection under his own label. Rob has been instructing up and coming designers for over fifteen years. He has taught internationally at Istituto Marangoni in Milan and for over 15 years at Parsons, his alma mater, where he began teaching three years after graduation, having been scouted by Tim Gunn. His involvement with a younger generation of designers began in 2006 when he mentored a 14-year-old designer on MTV’s “MADE”. Afterwards, Rob created fashion camps for several art studios in and around New York City. These ventures were the initial spark for what would become STITCHED Fashion Camp, started in 2013.

What sets Rob Younkers apart from others is how he has developed three careers simultaneously, as a designer, fashion personality, and educator. He has a natural ability to connect to future generations of designers of all ages and teaches the skills to take them to the next level. Rob was a cohost/fashion expert on LOGO’s Secret Guide to Fabulous for 3 seasons as well as the LOGO Minute Man. He has appeared as an on-air Style Correspondent for Yahoo Style, E! Television's Who Wore it Better!, ABC’s Fab Life, and Canada’s The Marilyn Denis Show. He is currently based in Los Angeles, California.

There’s nothing else like STITCHED for young designers. When people, ask, “Where did you get that?,” kids can proudly say, “I made it at STITCHED!”

Such an incredible experience

My daughter loved her time at STITCHED. Lissa and Rob were wonderful, supportive teachers, helping each child realize their vision. The fashion show at the end was a highlight - we were all amazed at the creativity and skills on display!

Outstanding!

Super fun, highly creative, and confidence building camp for my 10 year old daughter. She learned to create so many great pieces and gained a new and inspired perspective on fashion and design. She can't wait to go back again.

Highlight of the Summer!

This camp was amazing. My daughter loved every minute of it. She learned how to better sketch her ideas, unleash her creativity and focus it into a brand and fashion line. She created two outfits and an amazing tote bag with a zipper!

Rob and Lissa provide an inspiring, fun, nurturing and safe space that encouraged the campers creativity to blossom into actual, wearable clothing.

My daughter said it best on the last day, "I feel so accomplished!"

Now she feels empowered to create clothing on a sewing machine and has begun altering old (too small) dresses into shirts. Looking forward to her making new clothes.

Awesome!!!

Rob and Lissa are awesome. They have created a wonderful opportunity for a range of skills, from the novice to more experienced kids. The space is calming, though busy, and everyone seems happy to be there. My daughter's final pieces were amazing. This is her happy place :)

Exceeded any and all expectations

My daughter Harper (age 9) was so excited to explore this and boy, did Lissa and Rob DELIVER an absolutely incredible experience for her...one that I believe she will remember for the rest of her life and has likely sparked a life long love of creating fashion! This boosted her confidence and creativity in ways I did not expect. I was blown away and am eternally grateful to these amazing human beings and teachers :).
