In this hands-on class, you’ll dive into the world of fashion design pattern making by creating your very own custom skirt. You may choose to make a pencil, A-line, straight or fit & flare skirt, in the length and fabrication of your choice, all drafted to your exact measurements.
You’ll learn essential skills including accurate measuring, flat pattern drafting, muslin fitting, pattern refinement, and garment construction. We’ll begin by drafting your custom skirt pattern, then sew a muslin sample to test and perfect the fit. After making adjustments and finalizing your pattern, you’ll construct your finished skirt with professional details.
Your final skirt will feature a back zipper and a blind hem, resulting in a clean, polished finish. Along the way, you’ll gain confidence in fit troubleshooting and develop a reusable pattern that can be adapted into countless future skirt designs.
Machines and muslin will be provided. You’ll be guided through fabric and zipper selection, which you’ll purchase independently for your final garment.
