In this beginner-friendly, hands-on session, you’ll learn essential patchwork skills and techniques that can be applied to countless future projects. We’ll guide you step-by-step through two classic and versatile patchwork designs:
Log Cabin Block – A timeless, structured design perfect for showcasing color contrasts and balance.
Checkered Design – A playful, graphic style you’ll learn to make using a quick and easy method.
Once you’ve chosen your favorite design (or experimented with both), we’ll guide you through transforming your patchwork panels into functional, everyday items:
A beautiful placemat – Perfect for brightening up your dining table or gifting to someone special.
Drink coasters – Create a matching set or mix-and-match designs for a fun, eclectic look.
All materials are provided, so you can simply show up and start creating. You’ll leave with your own unique placemat and/or coasters, and during the three-hour session, you’re welcome to make as many as time allows.
This workshop is perfect for complete beginners who want a relaxed introduction to sewing, as well as experienced sewists looking for a refreshing, creative project. While it shares some similarities with our Intro to Sewing class, this session focuses less on technical sewing fundamentals and more on creativity, color selection, and composition.
