Explore the world of precision quilting through this four-week workshop. Each week, you will be offered a choice of two blocks. Either block will expand your skills and improve your accuracy. You can then complete multiple blocks to create a table runner, placemats, pillows or a full-sized quilt. We will be working with Deb Tucker’s Studio 180 Precision tools for each class. Tools will be available to use from the instructor to try them out before purchasing.
Week One: Flying Dutchman or Daylily
Week Two: Three In One or Sweetbrier
Week Three: Cactus Blossom or Leaves
Week Four: Take a Gander or Turnstile
What You’ll Learn:
•How to measure and cut fabric the quilter’s way for precision and accuracy
•An introduction to essential quilters’ tools and equipment
•An understanding of precision piecing and pinning
•The importance of color and value in a quilting block
This class is perfect for the intermediate beginner — someone who already has basic sewing machine skills. Some quilting familiarity is recommended but not necessary.
Throughout each week, you’ll immerse yourself in hands-on practice guided by detailed demonstrations and supportive feedback. Each session focuses on constructing one of two striking quilt blocks, allowing you to build skills steadily and witness tangible progress. Alongside technical mastery, you’ll discover the artistry of block layout, learning how subtle shifts in fabric placement and color can transform a quilt’s visual impact. By the end of the course, you’ll have a collection of diverse blocks and the confidence to tackle more ambitious quilting projects, ready to turn your creative vision into heirloom pieces.
Ample fabric will be provided. However, you are welcome to bring your own, but it must be 100% cotton quilting fabric.
